Decks have been cleared for a new bypass (PR-4) from the high-level bridge at Dadu Majra to the UT boundary on the Mullanpur side.

Sources said the Administration had notified a rehabilitation and resettlement scheme for families whose land it would acquire for the road to Mohali.

It is the first land acquisition scheme of the UT Administration under which compensation will be paid according to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. Earlier, the UT Administration used to award compensation as per the collector rates of the area, which were very low.

The proposed road will be 1,204-metre long and 60.96-metre wide. It will come up on 18.13 acres to be acquired in Dadu Majra village and Dhanas. The new road will connect Highway No. 21 and Sector 39, Chandigarh.

The UT Administration had engaged PU teams to conduct a social impact survey under the provision of the 2013 Act. An extensive survey was done to collect information and opinion and draw unbiased assumptions for better planning towards compensation and resettlement of the population being hit by the project.
