Another Romanian national has been arrested by the crime branch of the UT police for installing skimming devices and cameras in ATM machines. He is the third foreign national who has been arrested.

The police said the accused had been identified as Attila Luhos. He was arrested from Hotel Sands Inn, Sector 56, Gururgram, on August 12. He, along with another Romanian identified as Paul Sorin, had installed skimmer and camera at an ATM in Mohali.

Sources said Luhos had revealed that Paul provided the skimming devices to the gang. Paul, who is said to be the kingpin of the gang, is currently absconding.

Luhos was produced in the court and sent to two-day police remand. The police said they would interrogate him to know other accomplices involved in the crime.

The other two Romanians, identified as Miclea Lecian Lonut and Paraschiv George, who were arrested on August 10 from New Delhi, were again produced in the court on Monday.

They were further sent to three-day police remand. Till date, the police have found that the accused installed skimmer and cameras at three Canara bank ATMs in Chandigarh, including Sector 35, Mani Majra and Sector 17.

Accused Luhos was paid £5,000

The accused, Attila Luhos, earlier worked for a construction company in London. His wife is expecting a baby and he was in need of money following which the kingpin enrolled him in the gang on a weekly salary of £5,000.

Hard nut to crack

Sources said Miclea and Paraschiv did not co-operate with the police during interrogation. They did not eat food in police custody and pretended as if they do not understand English.
