Chandigarh, January 13
The second anthology of Punjabi ghazals titled ‘Rishma da Buhaa’, authored by poet Amarjit Amar, was released at the auditorium of the Central State Library on Saturday.
Credited with ten literary publications in Hindi and Punjabi, Amar had stamped his versatility in prose and poetry, observed chief guest NS Rattan IAS (Retd) while releasing the book. Amar is the recipient of the Haryana and Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi Honours.
Playwright poet Vijay Kapoor and Kailash Ahluwalia read out papers with critical appreciation on the book. Madhav Kaushik, Vice-Chairman of the National Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, said in his ghazal collection, Amar has reflected upon conflicts, resentment and agony of the masses in his collection.
Amar recited some of his poems and dedicated the book to senior writer Prof Virendra Mehndiratta. He also expressed gratitude to his wife Shanti Devi for being an inspiration for his literary achievements. Several celebrity of the city participated in the ceremony.
