Avoid these routes today

In view of the Republic Day parade, traffic diversions will be in place in and around Sector 17 from 7 am till the function concludes on January 26. 

A traffic police official said the stretch from the Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout up to Gurdial Singh petrol pump, Sector 22-A, on Udyog Path, from the old District Courts, Sector 17, up to Shivalikview Hotel on the rear side of Parade Ground, Sector 17, and from the light point near Lyon’s Restaurant in Sector 17 till the Parade Ground would remain closed for vehicles.

Police officials said the public should approach the Parade Ground either from the Sector 17 ISBT chowk or from the Sector 17/18 light point.

Parking of vehicles will not be allowed in front of shops in Sector 22-A from 6 am till the function gets over. 

Special invitees having car parking labels on their vehicles will be allowed entry from the Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout on Udyog Path and they will have to park their vehicles in the parking area in front of the market of Sector 22-A.

The public can park their vehicles in the parking area of Sector 22-B, at the parking adjacent to Blood Disease Hospital in Sector 23-B, on the rear side of Neelam Cinema, in the parking lot of the Football Stadium and in the Circus Ground in Sector 17.

All buses coming from Haryana, Punjab, HP and other places to the ISBT, Sector 17, Chandigarh, will be diverted towards the ISBT chowk from the Kisan Bhawan chowk and the Piccadilly chowk via Himalayan Marg and will enter the ISBT, Sector 17, from the small chowk near Gurdial Singh petrol pump.

In order to decongest this area at the time of dispersal, the traffic will be diverted away from the Sector 17 ISBT chowk on Udyog Path.The traffic coming from the Sector 17/18 light point, the Aroma light point, the Sector 18/19/20/21 chowk and the Cricket Stadium chowk will be diverted between 11.45 am and 12.15 pm.  Further, at the time of dispersal, only buses will be allowed to ply on this stretch.  

Around Punjab Raj Bhavan 

The stretch in front of the Punjab Raj Bhavan from the Sector 5/6/7/8 roundabout till the T-point of Vigyan Path and Sukhna Path near the Chandigarh Golf Club will remain closed for the public from 3 pm onwards till the “At Home” function at the Punjab Raj Bhavan gets over. 

Around Haryana Raj Bhavan 

The stretch from the Sukhna Lake T-point near the police post on Sarovar Path up to the Sector 5/6/7/8 chowk on Vigyan Path will remain closed for the public from 4 pm onwards till the “At Home” function at the Haryana Raj Bhawan gets over.
