Chandigarh, September 21

Five hospitals have been empanelled for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which will be launched by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore and MP Kirron Kher during a function at Tagore Theatre here on September 23.

A UT health official said 23,687 poorest of poor households as determined by the Socio-Economic Caste Census of 2011 would be the beneficiaries under the scheme in the city.

The hospitals on the panel are the GMCH-32, the GMSH-16, and civil hospitals at Sectors 22, 45 and Mani Majra.

“PGI’s empanelment will be done by the Centre,” said G Dewan, Direct, Health, UT, while adding that there could be some teething problems in the implementation of the scheme.

Under the scheme, there would be an ‘Ayushman mitra’ in every hospital, who will guide the patient from registration through the treatment.
