Balongi cop held in graft case
The Vigilance Bureau has arrested a Balongi cop for demanding bribe.
In his complaint, Satish, a resident of Maloya, stated that the investigating officer, ASI Bir Chand, was demanding money to settle a dispute with his in-laws. According to the complainant, the ASI had demanded Rs 50,000 and had already taken Rs 30,000.
The complainant alleged that on December 22, ASI Bir Chand threatened him that an attempt to murder charge would be added to the case and allegedly sought Rs 1.25 lakh for the SHO of the police station and Rs 25,000 for himself.
Satish recorded the entire conversation on phone and submitted it to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.
A case was registered against the cop under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was arrested on Friday.
