Considering innovation as the key differentiator, starts-ups, based out of Chandigarh and Punjab showcasing their products at TieCon-2019, are all set to transform the lives of masses.

From transforming the way the children learn to diagnostic device to screen breast cancer, these start-ups are banking on technology to excel in their focused area.

Jalandhar-based Avried Technologies, an initiative of Nikhil Miglani, Dipanshu Bajaj and Ankit Kumar is focusing on students who believe in interactive learning. “HOLOKITAB, an application, transforms school textbooks into a 3D platform through Augmented Reality, so that students can visualise the concept in a 360 degree way as a way of hologram in their textbooks, said Ankit. For instance, in case of a backbone diagram in a science book, the student can just scan the book image and view a 3D image of the backbone and also the bone marrow inside it, which is difficult to show via 2D videos and smart boards.

From PAU, Ludhiana, a group of undergraduate students focused on paddy straw management and other agricultural waste to create MDF boards for furniture, packaging, etc. “The idea is to reduce wood consumption and utilise this waste for creating eco-furniture and other usable items,” said Pawan Preet.

Coming to the aid of patients, the IIT-Ropar has come out with a breast cancer screening device which is more precise and economical. “Breast cancer in women is the most prominent among all cancers. Last year, around 1.62 lakh such cases were reported which led to the death of 87,090 persons. It is a thermo-vision device, which is not only precise as compared to the other machines available in the market, but also the screening cost will come down substantially, ‘said Dr Ravibabu Mulaveesala, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT-Ropar.

Further after the Union Home ministry of Civil Aviation rolled out the country’s policy for drones, many of the manufacturers are banking on the opportunity. Catching up the drone race, JungleWorks, a Chandigarh-based start-up, has introduced a drone delivery platform.

Overall around 32 start-ups from Punjab and Chandigarh showcased their products at a pavilion called “Start Up Bazaar” at Tiecon-2019.

App transforms books into 3d platform

HOLOKITAB, an application, transforms school textbooks into a 3D platform through Augmented Reality, so that students can visualise the concept in a 360 degree way as a way of hologram in their textbooks, said Ankit.
