The Municipal Corporation has stepped up its efforts to strengthen the city’s sanitation and waste management framework by convening a high-level review meeting aimed at enhancing efficiency and ensuring sustainable cleanliness.
The meeting was chaired by MC Commissioner Amit Kumar and attended by Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, Medical Officer of Health Inderdeep Kaur, along with other senior officials of the corporation.
A comprehensive review of the existing sanitation system and waste management practices was undertaken. Key focus areas included streamlining door-to-door waste collection, enforcing segregation of waste at source and ensuring timely lifting and scientific disposal of garbage across all sectors.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of a robust monitoring mechanisms and directed officials to intensify field-level supervision to achieve visible improvements. Emphasising citizen participation, he called for widespread public awareness campaigns to promote responsible waste disposal and segregation practices.
The meeting also underscored the need to strengthen operational efficiency by equipping sanitation workers with adequate resources and ensuring accountability at every level. Officials were instructed to further elevate sanitation standards in residential areas, commercial hubs and public spaces.
In a forward-looking approach, discussions highlighted the integration of technology for improved waste tracking, real-time monitoring and efficient grievance redressal systems.
