The city BJP today protested against the Congress over latter’s leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury calling President Droupadi Murmu “Rashtrapatni”, while the Congress held a protest against the BJP alleging that its MP Smriti Irani “insulted” party chief Sonia Gandhi.

BJP leaders, led by Mayor Sarabjit Kaur and others, mainly comprising women, took out a protest march outside the party office in Sector 33. “We will not bear insult to a woman and a tribal personality. The Congress is against the tribals, Dalits and women,” alleged the BJP protesters.

“We demand an apology from the Congress for insensitive remarks made against a woman. The real face of the Congress stands exposed once again before the nation,” they said.

On the other hand, the Congress, led by its president Harmohinder Singh Lucky, protested against the behaviour by BJP minister Smriti Irani in Parliament.

Addressing party workers in front of the Congress Bhawan here today, Lucky alleged: “Smriti Irani behaved in an unruly manner when she shouted at Sonia Gandhi and tried

to forcibly intervene into one-to-one discussion she was having with another woman MP within the Lok Sabha.” Lucky also condemned the criticism of MP Adhir Ranjan by the BJP.
