BJP organises Tiranga Yatra to honour martyrs, patriots
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandigarh Pradesh, organised a Tiranga Yatra at the Sector 17 Plaza today. Led by city BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra, the yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation by presidents of all six districts, mandal presidents, mandal teams, party office-bearers, workers and residents.
Former BJP Chandigarh state president and present co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh Sanjay Tandon was also present on the occasion. State vice-presidents Davinder Babla, Indira Singh and Naresh Panchal, state general secretary Ramveer Bhatti, Shakti Prakash Devshali, media incharge Ravi Rawat, Mayor Saurabh Joshi, along with several senior party office-bearers and workers, were also present.
“We breathe freely in independent India because of the sacrifices of our martyrs,” Malhotra said, and added that the Tricolour was a symbol of India’s honour, pride and glory. He stated that, “The freedom we enjoy today and the opportunity to breathe freely in independent India are the result of the supreme sacrifices of brave martyrs and the relentless struggle of patriots.”
He said that Independence Day was not merely an occasion for celebration, but also a time to remember our responsibilities towards the nation. He said that all must work together to build the India envisioned by martyrs.
Tandon said that the yatra was a symbol of gratitude and respect towards the brave sons and daughters of the nation. He said, “It is because of the sacrifices of great freedom fighters and martyrs that every citizen today can live freely and pursue his dreams.”
He said that nation came first and the younger generation must draw inspiration from the lives and sacrifices of the martyrs and contribute towards nation-building.
