Chandigarh, May 16

In its party manifesto released today, the city BJP unit today promised to introduce monorail to ease traffic problem, implement new pay scale in the UT and remove the dumping ground from Dadu Majra.

Apart from this, Chandigarh was promised to be developed as tourism, education and IT hub, providing free Wi-Fi in all city markets, by party leaders at a press conference today.

The manifesto mentioned 50 achievements of sitting MP Kirron Kher in the past five years. However, many of them were not completely fulfilled.

In its manifesto, the BJP also promised to regularise need-based changes to houses, one-time settlement of all issues related to the CHB, ensuring 24-hour water supply, preference to UT residents for jobs in the city and resolving parking problems. These issues were also made in the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014, but are yet to be fulfilled.

The other promises included implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, a dispensary in every ward, bringing all dispensaries under one management, beautification of all markets of the UT, allowing first floor on booths and approving box-type structure for SCFs.

Getting electricity wires underground, increase in number of houses allotted to journalists, providing insurance and pension scheme for senior journalists, construction of a convention centre, fill all empty posts, allotting deadlines to all projects and rationalising the cost of houses for government employees were also promised.

City BJP president Sanjay Tandon said Kirron had been striving to achieve all this for the past five years and would continue to do in future too. Kher said she would get things done from the Central government.
