Chandigarh: Gaurav, a resident of Sector 25, alleged that he was attacked by Rohit and others with sharp weapons and sticks near the mini market in Sector 25 on Thursday. He was admitted to the hospital. A case has been registered at the Sector 11 police station. TNS
Gold ring stolen in hospital
Chandigarh: Arif Ahmed, a resident of Sector 22-C, reported that his gold ring was stolen at the Healing hospital, Sector 34. A case under Section 305 of the BNS has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
5-km ‘Run for Heart Health’
Mohali: A 5-km-long “Run for Heart Health” will be organised on September 29. The run is aimed at creating awareness about heart diseases, especially their prevention. People should know how physical activities help keep their hearts healthy. For a good heart, one needs to manage stress, control BP, maintain ideal weight, have a sensible diet and do regular yoga, said one of the organisers.
Balraj wins men’s single scull event
Chandigarh: Balraj clocked 2:33s to win the men’s 500m single scull event during the 25th Sub-Junior Chandigarh State Rowing Championship at Sukhna Lake on Saturday. Uday (3:12s), Akshay (3:33s) and Vinay (3:45s) claimed second, third and fourth positions, respectively. In the women’s sub-junior coxless four event, Yakshi Janvi, Soumya and Sanjana claimed top three positions, respectively. The pair of Vinay and Akshay won the double scull event.
Dev Samaj academy lift cricket title
Chandigarh: KBS Dev Samaj Cricket Academy, Sector 45, defeated Himachal Cricket Academy DAV, Sector 39, by four wickets in the final of the 1st Devansh Sharma Memorial U-14 T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, the Sector 39 team posted 78/9 in the stipulated 20 overs as Shivang Goyal (16) scored maximum runs. Jishant took three wickets for the bowling side. In reply, the Sector 45 team achieved the target in the 16th over. Unbeaten Shivansh Chaudhary smashed 44.
Pooja, Komal win silver in Wushu
Chandigarh: Pooja Sharma and Komal won silver medals each in the U-65kg and U-60kg events, respectively, during the 33rd Senior National Wushu Championship at Dehradun. Pooja defeated Riya to enter the final, while Komal overpowered Ritu in her semis. Komal gave a tough fight to Isha Gujar but lost marginally in the third round. Pooja went down against international Nikita Bansal.
