PANCHKULA: The Municipal Corporation (MC), Panchkula, has deployed three earth-moving machines to clean the clogged nullah in Sector 19, which flows from Panchkula to Baltana.

Panchkula: The Municipal Corporation (MC), Panchkula, has deployed three earth-moving machines to clean the clogged nullah in Sector 19, which flows from Panchkula to Baltana. MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal also took up the matter of encroachment of the nullah by colonisers with the Mohali Deputy Commissioner (DC). Rajesh Jogpal sought their help in the cleaning the nullah from their side to prevent the accumulation of rainwater in houses in Sector 19.   The MC has constructed four rainwater harvesting pits and four more will be constructed in coming days in Sector 19.  TNS

Youth found hanging from tree 

Chandigarh: A youth was found hanging from a tree at the Mauli Jagran forest area on Friday afternoon. The police claimed that it was a case of suicide. Sources said local residents saw the victim, seems to be in his early-20s, hanging from a tree near Railway Colony in Mauli Jagran. The police was informed about the incident after which the body was shifted to a mortuary. The police have ruled out any foul play and have initiated inquest proceedings. TNS 

Car set on fire at Dhanas

Chandigarh: A Renault Kwid car was set on fire by an unknown miscreant at Dhanas on the intervening night of June 28 and 29. Complainant Jagjit Singh reported that he had parked his car in the lawn of his house. At 2.30 am, the complainant heard a loud noise after which he rushed outside and witnessed the incident. TNS

Man nabbed with heroin

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police arrested a drug peddler, who was supplying heroin and banned injections to addicts in colony areas of Chandigarh. He used to sell heroin at Rs 3,500 per gram. The accused, identified as Pavitar Singh (32), a resident of Patiala district, was arrested from near a botanical garden near Khuda Ali Sher by a team of the Sarangpur police station, led by Inspector Ram Rattan. The police recovered 110 gm of heroin worth several lakhs and 10 banned injections from him. The accused will be produced in a court on Saturday. The accused has two NDPS cases against him in Patiala. He is out on bail. TNS
