Candidates woo businessmen, lawyers in last leg of campaigning
After going from door to door and holding meetings at villages and sectors, candidates of political parties are meeting people on professional and community lines. Both the AAP’s candidate Prem Garg and the Congress’ candidate Chander Mohan met advocates at the office of the bar association in Panchkula on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Chander Mohan is now holding separate meetings with the representatives of the Punjabi community, Brahmin Sabha and Agarwal community to secure support.
Chander Mohan met the representatives of the Brahmin community at a private hotel in the city on Friday. Those in attendance included Dayanand Kaushik of the Haryana Brahmin Welfare Association, Jagdeep Atri, president of Panchkula Brahmin Sabha, Jitendra Sharma of Parashuram Welfare Association, Sanjay Sharma of Brahmin Sabha, Panchkula, and Shamsher Sharma, president of Kalka-Pinjore Brahmin Sabha and others. The community representatives raised demands of beautification of Parashuram Chowk, formation of a Brahmin Welfare Board and removal of liquor shops. The former Deputy CM assured to initiate these works on priority.
On similar lines, representatives of the Punjabi community organised a gathering under the banner of ‘Samast Punjabi Pariwar’ late on Friday evening. He will also meet representatives of the Agarwal community at the Agarwal Bhawan in Sector 16 on Saturday evening.
AAP candidate meets businessmen
The AAP’s candidate Prem Garg met various businessmen in the city on Saturday. He also paid visits to Suncity in Sector 20, carried out a march in Indira Colony and addressed a jan-sabha at Bir Ghaggar. He was accompanied by Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh at the jan-sabha in the evening.
Pardeep Chaudhary asks BJP for stand on drugs
Incumbent Kalka MLA Pardeep Chaudhary, whose constituency stands affected by the drug menace, today demanded to know the BJP’s stand and vision on eliminating drugs from the constituency. He said, “The people of Kalka want to know their stand on drugs.” He said he had raised the issue of drug prevention with administrative officials. “But the BJP never took any stand against drugs, and today the youth is falling prey to the menace,” he pointed out.
Shakti Rani promises more employment opportunities
BJP Kalka candidate Shakti Rani Sharma’s husband, Venod Sharma, campaigned for her in Raipur Rani on Saturday. He said youths in the region were perturbed over the lack of employment opportunities. “They are hopeful of getting employment in the government-established factories in the region.” Meanwhile, Shakti Rani Sharma visited Ghamsu and Dakhrog villages, Gupta Colony, Shiv Colony, and Pinjore, while her son Kartikeya Sharma visited and met traders at the main market of Pinjore. Shakti Rani assured the people of generating employment opportunities in Kalka.
Bhojpuri star at Gian Chand Gupta’s campaign
Bhojpuri star and former Member of Parliament from Azamgarh Dinesh Lal Nirahua today enthralled the audience during Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Gian Chand Gupta’s campaign at Indira Colony. Nirahua addressed the gathering in Bhojpuri and said ‘Chhat Ghats’ had been established in Panchkula for Chhat Puja during Gupta’s tenure. He urged people to vote for him.
