Patients and attendants have expressed ignorance of the police drive to challan the motorists for honking at the PGI, the GMCH-32 and the GMSH-16.
A visit to the PGI showed only one warning sign near the cardiac ward.
Pedestrians also lacked awareness on zebra crossing, forcing drivers to blow horns to prevent accidents. The scene was no different at the other two government hospitals.
“The police must start an awareness drive, at least for a month, before penalising drivers. The authorities concerned must put up big signboards at the entrance of the hospital cautioning people that they will be challaned if they honk on the hospital premises,” said Radhika, a visitor to the PGI.
