Chandigarh: Dr Shiraz Akif Mohammad of the PGI has reported his bag containing a laptop, an iPad, a hard disc and a MacBook, was stolen from the seminar room of the PGI. TNS

Two arrested on theft charge

Mohali: The police claimed to have solved a theft case with the arrest of two suspects from Kharar on Saturday. They also recovered 13 stolen motorcycles, four snatched mobile phones and five stolen cycles from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Lucky Dutt (27), a resident of Sadar Kharar, and Abdul Khan (23), a resident of Gharuan. A case was registered at the Sadar Kharar police station. The suspects were produced in a court, which sent them to police remand on Sunday. TNS

Roopali claims another gold

Chandigarh: Roopali Beri claimed yet another gold in the 15km (mass) race during the ongoing Chandigarh State MTB Cycling Championship. She clocked 1:05.21s to claim the top podium position. Damanpreet Kaur finished second clocking 1:14.32s, while Deepinder Kaur clocked 1:40.16s to finish third in the event. TNS

Man duped of Rs 1.67L, 1 held

Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested Saurabh Sharma, a resident of Sector 122, Mohali, for duping a man of Rs 1.67 lakh on the pretext of providing Permanent Resident (PR) of Canada. Complainant Brij Kishore alleged that he paid the money for PR. However, the accused neither provided the PR nor returned the money. A case under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 24 of the Immigration Act has been registered. TNS

Two nabbed with charas in city

Chandigarh: The District Crime Cell of the UT police has arrested two persons while possessing charas. One of the accused, identified as Happy (34), a resident of Kalka, was nabbed from Kishangarh while possessing 1.100-kg charas. A case has been registered at the IT Park police station. Another person, Mohammad Azad (30), a resident of Kajheri village, was arrested while possessing 665 grams of charas. He was arrested from Sector 45. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station. TNS

Man booked for cheating

Chandigarh: A Sector 32 resident has been booked by the Chandigarh police for cheating a woman. The complainant alleged that Tushar Sharma approached her through OLX to purchase an Innova SUV. After negotiations, the deal was finalised for Rs 4.17 lakh. The complainant alleged that the accused took the SUV by giving a cheque, which got bounced. A case has been registered.
