Chandigarh boxing assn selects team for nationals

The Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) has selected local pugilists for representing the city in the 9th Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championship, scheduled at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), from January 5.

The contingent will be led by women’s team captain Anju (80kg) and men’s captain Aman (80-85kg). Guddi (45-48kg), Nidhi (48-51kg), Ruchika (54kg), Kavita (57kg), Monika (60kg), Priyanka (65kg), Loveleen Kaur (70kg), Yogita Chouhan (75kg), Anju (80kg) and Anu Rani (80+kg) will participate in the women’s category.

The men’s campaign will be led by Sushant Kapoor (47-50kg), Krrish Pal (50-55kg), Akshay (55-60kg), Rohit (60-65kg), Akash (65-70kg), Achalveer Karwasra (70-75kg), Akshay (75-80kg), Aman (80-85kg), Harpreet (85-90kg) and Sawan Gill (90+kg).

The team will be accompanied by coaches Pankaj Chauhan, Rajat and Sunil, while the women’s team will play under coach Ritu Choudhary and Tajinder Kaur. CABA general secretary Charanjit Singh Virk and chairman Dr CK Jerath congratulated the selected boxers. — TNS
