A local court has rejected the bail application of Joshua Oscar Nevis, a Mumbai resident arrested in connection with a Rs 1.3-crore fraud case. Joshua was arrested by the police last year in August and had been in jail since then.

The police registered the case on a complaint from a person named Dinesh Kashyap, who told the police that posing as company’s manager a person asked him to transfer company’s fund to an account. When he discovered the fraud, he contacted the bank and filed a complaint with the police. During the investigation, the police found out that funds had been transferred to the bank account of Joshua.

Counsel of the accused argued in court that the police had framed him in a false case. However, the public prosecutor argued that if the accused was released from jail, he could influence the case. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail application of the accused.
