Bengal eves defeated Chandigarh by 100 runs in the ongoing Senior Women’s One Day Trophy at Vadodara.

Batting first, Bengal batters posted 311/6 in the allotted 50 overs. Their innings revolved around a fine performance by the top-order and middle-order batters. Openers Sasthi Mondal and Dhara Gujjar raised a 104-run stand, before the latter was claimed by Tarunika for 58 off 74 balls, with seven boundaries and a six. Sasthi went on to hammer 75 off 73 balls, studded with 13 boundaries, before P Guleria accounted her wicket. T Sarkar also did a major damage to Chandigarh by posting 65 off 66 balls, with nine boundaries. She and Mita Paul (56 off 52 balls, with six boundaries) raised an 85-run stand before Guleria accounted Sarkar and Aaradhana Bisht picked Mita. P Bala scored an unbeaten 36 off 27 balls, studded with five boundaries. Aaradhana took the wicket of Prativa (8) and Prativa Mandi (1) was run-out by Taniya Bhatia.

In reply, Chandigarh skipper Monika Pandey (5) was the first to go back to the hut, while Palak Rana contributed 28 before falling prey to Prativa Mandi. Aaradhana (16) was claimed by Bidisha Dey, but Taniya posted a stunning 52 off 44 balls, with eight boundaries, to help the side remain in the chase. She got some support from Gulnaaz (31), Shivangi (24) and Guleria (33), but the side could manage only 211/8 in the allotted 50 overs.

Punjab eves log win

At Ranchi, the senior women’s team of Punjab recorded a 45-run win over Tripura. Batting first, the winning side posted 229/7 with the help of Ridhima Aggarwal (65 off 62 balls, with nine boundaries) and Srishti Rajput (52 off 69 balls, with two boundaries). Neetu Singh (41) was the other notable scorer for the side. The Tripura batters replied with 184 as RR Saha (37), JR Debnath (35) and Reshma Nayak (22) scored for the side. Akshita Bhagat picked 3/29 for the bowling side, while Mannat Kashyap (2/21), Priya Kumari (2/25), Mehak Kesar (1/24) and Pragati Singh (1/29) were the other main wicket takers.
