Chandigarh Housing Board gets illegally occupied shop vacated

A liquor contractor illegally occupied shop number 24 of the Chandigarh Housing Board in Sector 61. Following this, the Housing Board sent a team to get the shop vacated and take possession.

According to officials, the liquor contractor had sent an application to the Housing Board for renting this shop to him, but the Housing Board refused to accept this application. Despite this, the liquor contractor started storing his stock here and was preparing to open a liquor shop here from April 1.

On coming to know about this, the Housing Board took possession of the shop and directed the Excise and Taxation Commissioner to take legal action against the liquor contractor.
