Chandigarh Kings begin campaign with 85-run win
Defending champions Chandigarh Kings started their 4th Chandigarh Premier League campaign with a dominant 85-run win over Tricity Bashers at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3 in Panchkula.
After being put to bat, the Kings posted 190 before getting all out in 19.3 overs. Arnav Bansal smashed 38 off just 14 balls, including five boundries and two sixes, while Adhiraj Singh continued the momentum with a blistering 50 off 26 balls, striking four boundaries and three maximums.
The foundation laid by the openers was capitalised upon by wicketkeeper-batter Akshit Rana, who played the innings of the match. Rana hammered 66 runs off 36 balls studded with six fours and three sixes.
Abhishek Saini (3/38) was the pick of thr bowlers, while Harjot Singh (2/21) and Arpit Singh (2/23) shared two wickets each.
Chasing 191, Bashers collapsed, as Rajveer Sehgal and Taranpreet S Bunnyy departed soon. Skipper Devang Kaushik fought a lone battle with an aggressive 48 off 30 balls, featuring seven fours and a six. Ankit Kaushik contributed 25 runs while Sanyam Saini chipped in with 14. However, regular wickets at crucial intervals derailed the chase. The side was bowled out for 105 in 15.2 overs.
Gaurav Gambhir (4/20) claimed maximum wickets for the bowling side, while Rohit Dhanda claimed two wickets.
