Chandigarh, May 11
The UT is likely to start vaccinating those above the age of 18 against Covid this week.
A senior UT official said the vaccination for 18 years and above was expected to start on May 14.
Against the demand of 1 lakh vaccines, only 33,000 vaccine doses have been approved by the Centre for the 18-45 years age group.
There will be no on-site registration for this age group and they would be vaccinated against the reserved slot. The UT is yet to receive the doses till date from the Central government due to which the slots have not been opened for this age group on the CoWIN portal yet.
UT Advisor Manoj Parida had announced that vaccination for the 18-45 age group will be in a phased manner due to staggered allocation of doses.

As many as 37,146 doses were administered between April 24 and April 30 while in the subsequent week, the number of doses given to beneficiaries dropped to 32,418. This decline was shown after five weeks of continuous rise in the number of doses administered in the city.
