City Mayor Sarabjit Kaur today handed over 20,000 colouring books, “Swachhata ke Rang”, to the UT Education Department here today.

The colouring books were handed over to Sarpreet Singh Gill, Secretary, Education, Chandigarh, in the presence of Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the corporation had introduced the colouring book for kids to imbibe swachhata as a way of life. She said now, children would learn good practices on keeping the city clean through this novel colouring book. It is perhaps for the first time in the country that swacchta has been made a part of the school curriculum.

Mitra said in a bid to create awareness about the swachh mission among children, the MC had introduced this colouring book on cleanliness, which was launched by Dharm Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, recently. She said the book depicted cartoons with a message pertaining to solid waste management and general cleanliness along with segregation of waste at source.

The aim
