Chandigarh men up for a tough challenge

CHANDIGARH:Hockey Chandigarh has been clubbed with Hockey Punjab in Pool A at the Hockey India 9th Senior National Hockey Championship (Men) A Division, which kick starts in Gwalior on Thursday.

Hockey Chandigarh has been clubbed with Hockey Punjab in Pool A at the Hockey India 9th Senior National Hockey Championship (Men) A Division, which kick starts in Gwalior on Thursday.

Pool A also includes Association of Indian Universities, The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd and Services Sports Control Board, while the Pool B will feature last year’s runners-up Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, Comptroller & Auditor General of India, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Bhopal and Central Reserve Police Force. 

Punjab & Sind Bank, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Punjab National Bank and Railways Sports Promotion Board form Pool C, while Air India Sports Promotion Board, Hockey Odisha, Namdhari XI, Hockey Karnataka and Canara Bank will slog it out in Pool D. 

The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals.
