Chandigarh Police file charge sheet against 4 DGRE employees in technician's suicide case

Jaswinder Singh allegedly harassed by seniors, suicide note cited; court hearing adjourned to Feb 6, 2026

Chandigarh Police has filed a charge sheet in a local court against four employees of the Defence Geoinformatic Research Establishment (DGRE), Sector 37, in the suicide case of 41-year-old technician Jaswinder Singh.

The charge sheet has been filed against Anurag Sharma, Kirpal Singh, Akhshay Jain and Sudhir Dhanija under section 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The case was registered on March 22 ,2023 after Jaswinder Singh allegedly jumped to death from the fifth floor of the office here. The victim was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

According to Jaswinder’s elder brother, Bhupinder Singh, a suicide note was found in the deceased’s pocket. Bhupinder alleged that the note indicated his brother was being harassed by some seniors in the office.

He said the note stated that his brother did not want to die but was forced to do so by the accused persons working in his office. He alleged that the accused had been harassing his brother.

The deceased, Jaswinder Singh, was a native of Patiala and employed with the DGRE as a technician. After completing the investigation, the police filed the charge sheet against the accused. The court has adjourned the hearing to February 6, 2026.
