For nearly four years, the police were unable to solve the mysterious case. However, suspicion remained focused on Professor Goyal.

A lengthy investigation, including a polygraph test, was conducted over this period, and Professor Goyal was arrested in December 2025. Police claimed that he fabricated a false story to mislead investigators.

Prof Goyal alleged that he was sleeping on the upper floor on the night of the incident and, upon coming downstairs in the morning, found his wife’s hands and legs tied, claiming robbers had escaped through a window.

However, police discovered during the investigation that the grills had been cut from the inside, indicating no intruders had entered from the outside.

Seema Goyal was the second wife of Professor Goyal.
