Chandigarh, August 19
The city has recorded the wettest August since 2012 even as nearly 10 days are still left for the month to complete.
According to the Meteorological Department, from August 1 to 19, 308 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city, which is highest since 2012 when the city had recorded 321.1 mm of rainfall in the month of August.
The city saw 284.4 mm of rainfall in the entire month of August last year, 304.6 mm in 2018, 264.8 mm in 2017, 127.4 mm in 2016, 106.8 mm in 2015, 30.9 mm in 2014 and 256.2 mm in 2013.
In the past 24 hours, 19.8 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city. “It is expected to rain tomorrow as well. After that, there is a forecast of a clear sky. After August 27, the monsoon will become active again,” said a Met official. “August saw more rain as monsoon has got active late this time,” the official added. — TNS
