Chandigarh Sports Dept announces scholarships for players who bagged top 3 ranks
The Chandigarh Sports Department has decided to grant Sports Talent Scholarship to the local players who bagged top three positions in the state championships and tournaments in Chandigarh during the year 2024-25 (from April 1, 2024 to March 30, 2025).
The first three positions holders in athletics, archery, badminton, boxing, billiards, basketball, baseball, carrom, cricket, cycling, chess, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, golf, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, karate, kho-kho, kayaking/canoeing, lawn tennis, lawn bowls, netball, pool, rowing, sailing, shooting, snooker, softball, skating (speed, roller/inline hockey, artistic/figure skating, skate boarding), squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, weightlifting, wushu and yoga will be eligible to apply under this scholarship programme.
The eligible players can apply online on the Sports Department website starting from February 11 till March 8 (3 pm). The soft copies of all needed documents will be allowed to be uploaded at the online portal till March 12. The winners will be awarded as per the criteria — U-14 (less than 14 years) Rs 36,000 per annum (1st), Rs 30,000 per annum (2nd) and Rs 24,000 per annum (3rd); U-19 (14 and less than 19 years) Rs 48,000 per annum (1st), Rs 42,000 per annum (2nd) and Rs 36,000 per annum (3rd); U-23 (19 and less than 23 years) Rs 60,000 per annum (1st), Rs 54,000 per annum (2nd) and Rs 48,000 per annum (3rd).
