Chandigarh University shines in QS World University Rankings
Chandigarh University, Gharuan, secured admirable ranking in five subjects, while Chitkara University excelled in two subjects in the QS World University Rankings 2025 issued today. The Gharuan-based university attained remarkable rankings in computer science, mechanical engineering, business management, electronic and electrical engineering and chemistry.
In social science and management, while Chandigarh University was ranked No. 1 in India among private universities, it was placed among the world’s top 250 universities in this subject. In engineering and technology, Chandigarh University secured second rank among private universities in India and 231st in the world.
In computer science and mechanical engineering programmes, the university was ranked third among private universities in India with an overall score of 57.6. The university rank was between 301 and 350 in the world in these two programmes.
The academic reputation, which reflects academic prowess, the university’s score is 44.3, while the employer reputation, which indicates a university’s strong standing among employers, the score is 67.0. With 73.3 points in citations, Chandigarh University demonstrated a significant impact and quality in research. Additionally, it achieved 60.8 points in the h-index, highlighting the institution’s researchers output and impact of their publications.
In mechanical engineering, Chandigarh University was ranked third among private universities in India with overall score of 60.3. In electrical and electronic engineering, the university was ranked fourth among private universities in India. In business management, Chandigarh University ranked fourth among private universities in India. Chandigarh University ranks between 401 and 450 in the world, with an overall score of 58.
Chitkara University excels too
Chitkara University excelled in business and management studies and computer science and information system programmes. The university is ranked among top 30 universities in India and between 601 and 650 in the world. The university claimed score of 44.8 in academic reputation, 56.2 in employer reputation, 71.5 in citations per paper and 74.8 in h-index citations. In computer science and information system, the university attained world ranking between 654 and 700.
