Charges framed against student in hit-&-run case in Chandigarh
The accused fled from the spot in his BMW car after hitting victim who was riding a bicycle
A local court has framed charges against Ishan Shankar Roy, who was arrested in a hit-and-run incident, leading to death of constable Anand Dev one year ago. According to the police, the accused fled from the spot in his BMW car after hitting Dev, who was riding a bicycle, on the evening of May 11, 2025.
The accident took place at the Sector 9-10 traffic lights near the Police Headquarters in Sector 9 here. Roy was arrested the next day.
The police initially registered an FIR under Section 282 and 106(1) of the BNS on a complaint filed by Ashish Choudhary.
He told the police that a speeding BMW car hit Dev’s bicycle and sped away. The police added Section 105 of the BNS after the victim succumbed to injuries.
According to the police, certain persons were making videos while two cars were racing on the Sector 9/10 road and it was at that time the BMW car hit Dev. The complainant took the victim to the hospital.
