Chhatbir Zoo names 3 female cubs born to tigress Gauri

In a grand event at the Chhatbir Zoo, the three female cubs born to the tigress Gauri were today christened as Garima, Gunjan and Ghazal by the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak.

The cubs were born on November 5, 2025, and after having completed three months, are ready to be shifted to a bigger place. Of the three, two are white and one is brown in colour. The new additions have taken the total number of tigers in the zoo to 10.

To promote the Punjab Government’s wildlife conservation efforts, Kataruchak announced the Facebook and Instagram accounts of the Chhatbir Zoo during the event. Describing social media as a vital tool in wildlife and nature conservation, he expressed confidence that the state government’s wildlife protection efforts would get wider reach.

The minister said the department was planning to mark the completion of the zoo’s Golden Jubilee (50 years) in April with a majestic celebration. Chief Wildlife Warden Basanta Raj Kumar and Chhatbir Zoo Field Director Nalin Yadav were present on the occasion.
