The women’s badminton team of Chitkara University won the North Zone Inter-University Women’s Championship held at CT University, Ludhiana. The team defeated Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, 2-0 to win the title.
Earlier, in the round-robin league stage, Chitkara University had defeated hosts CT University and Panjab University by identical scores of 2-0 and in the quarterfinals, the title winners defeated Delhi University 2-0. The Phagwara-based university claimed the second position and Panjab University team finished at the third spot.
Chitkara University won all their three matches to top points’ table with six points, followed by Lovely Professional University with four points from three outings. Panjab University team won two matches, while CT University finished fourth without opening its account in the tournament. By winning the north zone title, the university has also qualified for the All-India Inter-University Championship.
