The Mushroom Hut drama ensemble, Delhi, staged a Hindi play, “Yatra- Budh”, on the fifth day of the Acharya Abhinav Gupt National Drama Festival at Navrang Theatre here today.

Written by Rahul Bhardwaj and Shiv Dutt Pande and directed by Sunil Chitkara, the play chronicled various episodes from the life of Sidhartha, the prince of Kapilvastu. The play showed his renunciation of the royal life, penance, and enlightenment.

Director Sunil Chitkara created the ambience of 560 to 460 BC through different sets, costumes, script, narratives and language, which reflected the noble truths, wisdom and the eight-fold path to attain salvation. The play also depicted the loss of his mother, his education under sage Vishwamitra and his marriage to princess Yashodhra and son Rahul seeking Siddhartha’s heritage.
