In yet another embarrassing defeat, Chandigarh boys faced a crushing innings and 251-run defeat against Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite U-16 at Shimoga, Karnataka. The four-day match ended in two days.
In their first innings, the Chandigarh lads were bundled out at 70. In reply, Tamil Nadu batters posted 385. Opener Dhanvanth Anamangad posted 130 off 170 balls, with 21 boundaries, while Arya Ganesh (52 off 50 balls, with four boundaries), Rishab Sriram (50 off 109 balls, with seven boundaries) and Abhiman Sundar (48 off 71 balls, with eight boundaries) were the other main contributors to the score. Yashjeet Singh picked three, while Yuvraaj Bhardwaj, Ruhaan Sharma and Ishant Rawat took two wickets each for the bowling side.
In their second innings, Chandigarh batters once again flattered at 64. Shivam Chaudhary (13) and Bhardwaj (11) were the two main scorers for the side. Abhishek claimed a five-wicket haul for the bowling side, while Abhiman Sundar (3/17) and Pooli Raja (2/10) also claimed wickets.
