City resident dies as truck, Activa collide

A scooterist died after being hit by a truck on the Karoran road at Nayagaon here on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as Gursharan Singh (30), a resident of Sector 25, Chandigarh. The police have nabbed the truck driver, identified as Dharminder Suri, a resident of Rajasthan. 

According to the police, Gursharan Singh was working in the field of film production. He (Gursharan) was driving his Honda Activa scooter when knocked down by the truck coming from behind. The victim sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries, said the police.

A case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the truck driver at the Nayagaon police station.
