Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij today asked the district administration to
immediately initiate flood control measures and clean all drains, rivulets and channels passing through the district before the onset of monsoon.
Chairing a meeting of the district official machinery here, Vij reviewed the progress of ongoing development works and the preparedness to tackle possible flood-like situation in the coming rainy season.
Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur Brar gave a detailed overview of the ongoing and planned development projects and the anti-flood control measures being undertaken in
the district.
The five-time BJP MLA from Ambala Cantonment asked the authorities to complete the cleaning of drains, rivulets and channels by June 25 and ensure the completion of the ongoing and planned development works within the stipulated time frame.
He warned the district officials of stern action in case of poor quality, delay or negligence in the execution of any work.
The minister also directed the district administration to prepare a charter of short, medium and long-term projects and finalise their specifications, quality control and deadlines accordingly.
Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Satyendra Siwach informed the minister that 130 workers had been outsourced by the civic body on daily-wage basis for three months to undertake the cleanliness and maintenance work of the drains, rivulets and channels in the area.
