Punjab: CM insurance scheme to rescue of mishap victim
The entire cost of treatment, amounting to several lakh rupees, was borne by the government
The Punjab government’s Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme has proved to be a boon for Amarjit Singh, a resident of Ramgarh village in Bassi Pathana subdivision of the district, who was seriously injured in a road accident and admitted to a private hospital.
Talking to the media, Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh Happy said Amarjit was injured belonged to a very poor family and was admitted to a private hospital following the accident, where his cashless treatment was carried out under the CM health insurance scheme.
The entire cost of treatment, amounting to several lakh rupees, was borne by the government. The MLA said Amarjit Singh was the first beneficiary of the scheme launched recently.
He added that the scheme provides every citizen with cashless health insurance cover up to Rs 10 lakh per year without any income or social status criteria. All family members are covered under a single health card. He said for enrolment Aadhaar and voter ID cards were required and registration camps were being organised at various locations in the constituency.
