Patiala, February 16

To boost voluntary blood donation, Punjab State AIDS Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council, Chandigarh, have sent a state-of-the-art mobile blood bus to the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (Blood Bank), Government Medical College, Patiala, for motivational campaign and organising voluntary blood donation camps.

Dr BL Bhardwaj, Principal, Government Medical College, Patiala, today formally inaugurated a two-week special campaign regarding voluntary blood donation. He said during this period, people, especially youths, would be encouraged to become regular voluntary blood donors.

Dr Kanchan Bhardwaj, Prof and Head, Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, said this mobile blood bus was like a “mini-blood bank” in which all facilities for blood donation were available that were provided in blood bank.

She said the ideal voluntary blood donation camps could successfully be organised in this bus. They also prepared a schedule for organising voluntary blood donation camps at different places.
