Chandigarh, June 24

A woman, who had allegedly duped a Sector 7 resident of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad, has been arrested by the local police from Mumbai.

Ravi Kumar had complained that the woman, Vishnu, who was residing in his neighbourhood, came in his contact and promised to send him to the US. She asked him to pay Rs 15 lakh. He transferred the money to her on different occasions.

After taking the money and documents from the victim, she stopped taking his calls. The victim could not contact her after December 30 last year.

He then approached the police following which a case was registered at the Sector 26 police station in April.

The UT police scrutinised the call detail records and mobile tower location of the woman and traced her to Vakola, Mumbai. — TNS
