Chandigarh: The Drug Disposal Committee disposed of a contraband of drugs, including cocaine, charas, heroin, ganja, poppy husk, intoxicant injections, capsules and tablets, seized in 190 cases registered under the NDPS Act by six police stations in the city — Sector 31, 34, 36, 49, Maloya and Mauli Jagran.



Chandigarh: The Drug Disposal Committee disposed of a contraband of drugs, including cocaine, charas, heroin, ganja, poppy husk, intoxicant injections, capsules and tablets, seized in 190 cases registered under the NDPS Act by six police stations in the city — Sector 31, 34, 36, 49, Maloya and Mauli Jagran. The disposed of drugs included 31.6 kg of charas, 895.4 gm of heroin, 33.9 kg of ganja, 192.9 kg of poppy husk, 25 gm of cocaine, 7,128 capsules and 4,500 tablets and intoxicant injections. The drugs were disposed of at a plant Mohali. TNS  

Theft at docs’ hostel in PGI

Chandigarh: Unknown persons stole cash and valuables from two rooms at the doctors’ hostel on the PGI campus on Sunday. According to the police, the complainants, Dr Vijay Kumar and Dr Sahil, reported that a laptop was stolen from room number 203 and an iPad, a laptop, two gold bangles, three gold rings, a pair of earrings and Rs 6,000 from room number 206 of the hostel, E-Block. A case gas been registered at the Sector 11 police station. TNS

Youth arrested with heroin

Chandigarh: A 24-year-old youth has been arrested with heroin. According to the police, the suspect, identified as Akant Kumar, alias Banni, a resident of Sector 23, was arrested after he was found in possession of 50 gm of heroin at Hallo Majra on Monday. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the suspect at the Sector 31 police station. TNS

Bag snatched in Mani Majra

Chandigarh: Three Activa-borne miscreants snatched a bag from a woman at Mani Majra. The complainant, a resident of Mauli Jagran, reported that unknown persons snatched her bag containing Rs 3,500, two bank passbooks, two ATM cards and an Aadhaar card near a private school on Monday. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station. TNS

Two arrested for snatching

Ambala: The district police have arrested Deepak Kumar, alias Manga, of Baldev Nagar and Manthan of Naggal in a case of snatching and claimed to have recovered a motorcycle used in the crime. According to the police, the complainant in the case, Umesh Chand of Ambala Cantonment, had stated that two persons had snatched his mobile phone, cash and chain near Dasehra Ground in Barnala village near here on October 20 night. The suspects will be produced in court on Wednesday, officials said. Drug peddler in police net

Ambala: The district police have arrested Harpal Singh of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh for supplying drugs to a Chandigarh resident who was arrested here recently. According to the police, Dharambeer of Khuda Lahora in Chandigarh was arrested with 400 gm of opium on October 17 and during his interrogation, he revealed that he had purchased the contraband from Harpal Singh. The arrested peddler will be produced in court on Wednesday. TNS
