Mohali, September 2

Amidst heavy rain and waterlogging lashing the region for the past few days residents of several parts of Phase-11, Phase 3B2 and Sector 71 have faced problems due to rainwater inundating in the streets. Senior Congress councillor Rishav Jain today said the officials of the local administrative and civic body were ‘non-cooperative’ and ‘not listening’ to the grievances of residents.

They just do not listen to anybody. We have been requesting for a high intensity pump and generator to drain out rainwater for the past many years but our repeated requests are falling on deaf ears. Rishav Jain, Councillor

Due to waterlogging, rainwater entered the houses of many residents but no help was provided by the officials, despite repeated phone calls. “They just do not listen to anybody. We have been requesting for a high intensity pump and generator to drain out rainwater for the past many years but our repeated requests are falling on deaf ears,” he said. The road gullies are blocked in the entire city. Almost all the inner roads are broken. Sewage water is flowing on roads but officials are content drawing their salaries, he added.
