Residents of Adarsh Nagar in Ward No. 18 are agitated over contaminated drinking being supplied to them from the past many months. They alleged that no action was taken by the Municipal Council (MC) despite repeated complaints of contaminated water supply at Adarsh Nagar.

The Kharar MLA, Kanwar Sandhu, today visited Adarsh Nagar and heard problems of residents. Among others Surjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Jasvir, Natthu Ram, Mohan Singh and Navdeep Singh Babbu, state president of the SC Wing of the Punjab Ekta Party, told the MLA that contaminated water was being supplied to them. They also complained about poor drainage due to which sewage overflowed on road and damaged it. Residents demanded that a new tubewell, which was sanctioned by the MC, should be installed at Adarsh Nagar at the earliest.

The MLA spoke to Executive Officer of the MC, who promised to resolve the contaminated water issue as soon as possible. Balwinder Kaur, councillor of the Ward No. 18, said she had already complaint about the contaminated water supply to the MC.
