Chandigarh, April 17

The two suspects, who were arrested by the local police on a charge of using criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty, submitted their written statements to the DSP (Traffic) today after an inquiry was ordered following a video that went viral in which a traffic cop is seen kicking one of them. Ranjit, who runs a coaching institute, in his statement submitted to the inquiry officer, alleged that the traffic cop, Ranjit Singh, misused his position and registered a false FIR against him, his wife and his employee Dilkush.

He said Dilkush did not even utter a single word at the spot, but despite this, he was booked by the police.

On April 11, a couple and a man were booked for allegedly manhandling SI Ranjit Singh of the traffic wing over wrong parking in Sector 34. Two of them, Ranjit Jha and Dilkush Jha, were arrested in the case., who later got bail from the court on April 13. Ranjit reportedly had an argument with the police for “wrongly challaning” a motorist. — TNS
