Mayor Raj Bala Malik said she is going to ask all councillors to come forward.
"It is required, and we will support the move," she told Chandigarh Tribune.
In a few areas, it has already been started.
Sector 30 has been sealed by the authorities after coronavirus cases were reported here.
In Sector 40 residents have themselves sealed the area. They have been doing thermal checking and using sanitisers on every exit.
A list of these people has been prepared.
A group of residents are keeping a check on all who are entering the sector at different entry points. They are also checking their curfew passes.
