Corruption case: CBI seeks seized documents, court allows Bhullar's plea seeking time for filing reply
'For enquiry, mobile phone, Apple IPad, Apple MacBook Pro, Sony laptop of HS Bhullar are required'
The CBI court Chandigarh has allowed plea of suspended DIG of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar for seeking time for filing reply on the application of CBI for taking over mobile phone, original documents and articles/cash seized during corruption case.
The CBI, in the application filed during last hearing in March, sought documents in a preliminary enquiry (PE) registered against unknown persons.
The CBI in the application claimed before Chandigarh CBI Court that it has found involvement of many officers of Punjab and private persons during the investigation of the corruption case registered against suspended DIG of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar and his aide Kirshanu Sharda last year.
After completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed before the court.
The CBI in the application claims that a preliminary enquiry has been registered against unknown public servants and private persons as offshoot of a trap case registered against accused Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the then DIG, Punjab Police, Ropar Range, Punjab and middleman accused Kirshanu, private person, in which accused Kirshanu was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of accused Bhullar from complainant Akash Batta.
During the hearing, SPS Bhullar counsel of the accused DIG Bhullar sought for more time for filing the reply which the court allowed and adjourned the hearing for April 22.
The CBI said that the findings indicate a structured network of middlemen facilitating bribery and suspect criminal misconduct by multiple unknown public servants. The CBI said that for the purpose of enquiry of the present PE, the mobile phone, Apple IPad, Apple MacBook Pro, Sony laptop of HS Bhullar are required.
Meanwhile, Central Forensic Scientific Laboratory (CFSL) reports is in respect of Right Hand Wash and Left Hand Wash of accused Kirshanu.
This examination report is in respect of Mobile make Apple has also been submitted before the court. The CBI requested that the Forensic experts of CFSL, Chandigarh who prepared the above reports are also required to be cited as additional witnesses.
