Councillor sits on dharna, demands road recarpeting

Kuljeet Singh Sandhu, BJP councillor of ward number 14, along with area residents sat on dharna today over the bad condition of a road.

Sandhu claimed that the road from Sector 14 to Dhanas lake had been in bad condition for many years. He said that he had been meeting officers of the UT Engineering Department for many days, but had received no response so far.

He said that the V3 road had been recently transferred to the Administration for recarpeting, but no such work had been started. Sandhu said that the recent rains had damaged the road further. The loosened gravel is also posing threat to the commuters, particularly near the roundabout. He said that they had requested for the intervention of the higher authorities of the Administration in this matter, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents, but in vain.

The councillors and residents sat on the dharna on road for over two hours, forcing the officers of the Engineering Department reach the spot. After getting an assurance from the officers concerned for starting the patch work immediately, the councillor agreed to lift the dharna.
