Covid cases to be shifted to PGI; docs oppose move

Chandigarh, April 1

The UT health administration has decided that all Covid patients will be shifted to the Nehru Extension Block of the PGI from April 3.

Three city hospitals — PGI, GMSH-16 and GMCH-32 — will continue to screen and take samples of suspected cases, who will be kept in isolation wards of the respective hospital till the receipt of test report. The confirmed cases will be shifted to the PGI.

Dr Uttam Thakur, president, Association of Resident Doctors, said the move was unscientific and could expose more health workers to infection. A Covid-19 patient should not be moved from one place to another under any circumstances. — TNS
