The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) celebrated the National Science Day here today on the theme of “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.” Lt Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Acknowledging the achievements of women scientists and their vital role in nation-building, Gupta encouraged scientists and researchers to focus on developing technologies that address the unique challenges of hilly and remote regions, including Ladakh. He emphasized that national laboratories such as CSIO form the backbone of India’s technological strength and innovation ecosystem.
He went around the technology exhibition hall, where a wide range of indigenously developed technologies were showcased and toured the centre for nano optics and fabrication, a new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advanced research in optoelectronics and nano-fabrication.
He also visited the Indo-Swiss Training Centre, where he observed the ongoing skill development and diploma programmes designed to provide hands-on technical training to students. He appreciated the institute’s commitment to nurturing skilled manpower and supporting India’s technical workforce.
On this occasion, CSIO also organised an open day for the people. Visitors, including students and science enthusiasts, toured various laboratories, witnessed demonstrations of advanced technologies and interacted with scientists.
