Before taking up any city development agenda, new Mayor Raj Bala Malik has started the development of her own office!

Opts for chair she used in 2012

  • The red velvet Mayor chair, worth Rs 70,000, was kept aside by new Mayor Raj Bala Malik. She instead opted for the chair she used in 2012 when she was the Mayor. “This chair was lying at a corner in the rest room. I asked my staff to take it out. It is comfortable,” she said. Raj Bala has also changed the position of her chair and table.

On the first day of work, several cosmetic changes were seen in her office. A wooden partition has been raised inside her office. Besides, another wooden structure has been raised inside the Mayor’s rest room. Also, some pictures, including of RSS ideologues, have been removed as her staff said they would be putting these up once the changes are made in the room.

High-end brand conscious Raj Bala, who is known for her flamboyant style in the MC, said, “Some changes were required inside the office. Partitions were done to separate specific areas. New wall pictures will also be put up soon.” She will use the Sector 24 Mayor’s official residence as the camp office and will not shift from her own Sector 10 house. She declined to take an iPhone the Mayor is entitled to saying she has her own phone.

Meanwhile, her first day in office was mostly spent on meeting different associations. She was bombarded with red roses. Most flowers given to her during courtesy calls by people were red roses. Later in the day, she met MC officials at a meeting to talk stock of current issues.

Long wait for visitors

It was a long wait for people who had come to meet her at the Mayor’s office. They expected her about 10 am. However, Raj Bala reached her office at 12.35 pm.
