Day after crime, two snatchers in police net

Chandigarh, November 17

The police have arrested the two persons who allegedly snatched a purse from a woman after entering inside the gate of a house in Sector 21 here on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Shubham, a resident of New Indira Colony in Mani Majra, who has done a diploma of lab technician from a college in Sector 26, and Pardeep, a native of Rohtak district, who is a graduate and presently working in a call centre.

The accused had targeted the victim, Charu Jain, while she was entering her house in Sector 21. She had lost balance as the accused snatched her purse. She fell down in the melee. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside the house.

The police said the accused had stolen a motorcycle from Sector 15 and used it to commit the snatching. The police have recovered the woman’s purse and the motorcycle used in the crime.

The police said both the accused were involved in various cases of snatching and vehicle theft. They were produced in court, which sent them to two-day police remand. —TNS
